Kevään nuput - Buds Of Spring

Sain nämä oliivijadet jo kauan sitten SuperSalaiselta Helmiystävältäni, mutta en ole keksinyt niille sopivaa seuraa. Nyt olen tekemässä taustalla näkyvää vihertävänkeltaista puuvillaneuletta, jonka väriin ne sopivat täydellisesti. Korvakoruihin ei enää oliivijadea riittänyt, mutta onneksi löysin kaksi melko tarkkaan saman väristä helmiäislasihelmeä. :)

Väreistä tulevat mieleeni kevään ensimmäiset lumikellojen nuput, jotka varovasti kurkistelevat lumikinosten keskeltä, siitä korun outo nimi. Korujen toisena materiaalina on valkoinen "jade" siruhelminä. Muut materiaalit valkoista vaijeria ja hopeoitua korumetallia.

Neuleesta tulee oma juttunsa, kunhan se aikanaan valmistuu.

I got these Olive Jade stones ages ago from my SuperSecret Beader Friend, but I just couldn't figure out what to do with them. Few days ago I suddenly realized, that they match almost exactly the colour of the cotton pullover I'm knitting just now! So I mixed them with white "jade" chips to get nice summery feeling. For the earrings I found two faux pearl beads almost the same colour. Other materials are white wire and silver plated parts.

When finished, the set got it's name very quickly. The light, gently yellowish green of Olive Jade brings to my mind the first snowdrop buds appearing from the snow in the spring.

I'll make another story about the pullover, when I get it finished.

Bambulat - Bamballs

Bambunlehtiakaattia hyvin rouheina, isoina palasina. Eivät ole parasta A-laatua, reiät ovat vinossa ja möhkäleissä on koloja ja muita epätasaisuuksia. Mutta ihanan eläviä! Olen pyöritellyt näitä kiviä käsissäni monasti, mutta ne ovat olleet aivan hiljaa. Nyt ne yllättäen alkoivat kuiskia helmilaatikosta ihan itsekseen.

Korvakorut tein simpukankuorihelmistä, jotta sain niistä tarpeeksi isot. Tuon kokoiset (12 mm) kivestä tehtynä tuhoaisivat korvieni reiät samantien. =:-o

Big, very rough Bamboo Leaf Agate faceted nuggets. Not the A-quality, not even B: holes are not straight, the nuggets have holes and other irregularities in them. But they are so alive, so vivid and interesting! These stones have been somewhat of a challenge to me: I have turned them in my hands several times, but they always were quiet. Now they suddenly began to whisper from their stash, and here they are.

The earrings are made of round MOP resin beads, to get them big enough. Balls of that size (12 mm) made of stone would surely ruin my ears. =:-o

Jääsydämet - Icy Heart Earrings

Korujumi lähti lopultakin avautumaan. Joulusta asti korurintamalla on ollut todella hiljaista, vain neulepuikot ovat kilisseet olohuoneessa. Kevättalven kirkkaat päivät saivat kuitenkin kaipaamaan pientä blingiä ja niin syntyivät Jääsydän-korvakorut. Hyvin yksinkertaiset "villapaitakorut", joissa AB-käsitelty lasisydän korumetallissa. Kuvan värit ovat pielessä (taas!), sydämet ovat sinertävän sävyiset, eivätkä suinkaan punertavat. Pahuksen keinovalot!

I have been suffering some kind of blockage with jewellery-making since Christmas. Only the clicking of knitting needles has filled my livingroom. But with the first sunny days of late winter made me long for some bling. So I made these very simple Icy Heart earrings. AB-coated glass hearts with silver plated metal parts. The colours in the picture are (again) a bit off, there are no red or magenta shades on the hearts. Damn the artificial lights!
