Kesäneule - Summer Top

Tämä pikkupusero valmistui jo ajat sitten, mutta on jäänyt kuvaamatta. Se on pestykin pari kertaa, siitä ryppyinen ulkomuoto.

Lanka on Dalegarn Svale väri 3608 (Salmon Soufflé): 50 % puuvillaa, 40 % viskoosia ja 10 % silkkiä. Lanka on ihanan pehmeä ja vilpoinen kesäneuleisiin, mutta löyhäkierteisenä aiheuttaa neulojalle välillä harmaita hiuksia.

Puseron malli on yhdistelty eri lähteistä, eli on tavallaan omaa suunnittelua.

This little summer top was finished months ago, but I didn't get to take a picture of it. It has been used during the summer and I even have washed it for a couple of times - thus the wrinkly look.

The yarn I used is Dalegarn Svale colour 3608 (Salmon Soufflé), which contains 50 % cotton, 40 % viscose and 10 % silk. It is caressing soft and nicely cool for summer clothes, but I almost got (more) grey hairs when knitting the loosely twisted yarn. But it was worth the trouble!

The model for this top is a combination of a few other patterns, so I could say that this is my own "design".

Puolukoita - Lingonberries

Syksyisen myrskysään piristykseksi (ja ehkä myös erään kauniin, nuoren naisen kaunistukseksi) tällainen yksinkertainen setti. Punaista Mountain Jadea keskelle suurenevana sarjana pujotettuna vaijeriin, väleissä kirkkaat hopeasisustaiset siemenhelmet. Väri on ainakin minun näytölläni suunnilleen oikein.

Korvakoruissa ketjunpätkien päihin heilumaan laitettuina pikkuruiset Mountain Jadet, fasettihiottu lasihelmi sekä swaroja kirkkaina ja mattapunaisena. Klikkaa kuva isommaksi, niin korvakorujen yksityiskohdistakin saa ehkä selvää.

To brighten up this darkening and stormy autumn weather (and perhaps, hopefully, to make one certain young lady shine in her beauty) I made this very simple set. In the necklace I have red Mountain Jade in graduating series and in between some size 11 clear silver lined seed beads. All strung in beading wire.

In the earrings there are tiny Mountain Jades, one faceted clear glass bead and tiny Swarovski bicones in clear and matte red. Beads are
in the ends of small bits of silver plated chain, so they move around and bling nicely. Please click the photo to view it in large size.

Viiniköynnös - Grapevine

Viinilinjalla jatketaan, mutta nyt on koko Viiniköynnös tarjolla. :) Setissä kaulakoru, rannerengas ja korvikset.

Olen hillonnut tätä Piia's Design -helmeä pitkään, kun ei sille ole ollut mielestäni sopivia kavereita. Nyt käsiini sattui täsmälleen oikean sävyisiä vihreitä lasihelmiä, jotka ryhmittelin valkoisen "jaden" kanssa pätkiksi kullanväriseen korumetallilankaan.

Itse keskushelmen kiinnittäminen koruun tuotti suorastaan harmaita hiuksia, kun näissä on niin suuret reiät. Yläkulman lähikuvassa näkyy ratkaisu - ja toki noin upea helmi on tarkennuksensa ansainnut. Valitettavasti vähäinenkin auringonpaiste onnistui lähes kokonaan hävittämään helmen kauniit kultakoristelut lehtien reunoilla.

Still going on with the wine theme, this time with a whole Grapewine. :) Set contains necklace, bracelet and simple earrings.

I've been treasuring the big, beautiful lamp work bead by Piia's Design (in Finnish only, but wonderful jewellery there!), because I didn't seem to find suitable companions to it. Lately I came across with these green glass beads, which match quite nicely, and adding a few white "jade" beads I made small groups with gold coloured wire.

The process of attaching the central bead to the necklace gave me some (more) gray hairs, because of the huge hole these beads have. In the upper left corner I placed a close-up, where You can see my solution - and of course the beautiful bead has earned its close-up as well. Unfortunately the sunshine made those delicate golden details around the leaves to disappear almost totally.

Sesame Wine

Seesamiviiniä, olkaa hyvät! Outo nimi perustuu assyrialaiseen legendaan, jonka mukaan jumalat joivat seesaminsiemenistä tehtyä viiniä, kun he kokoontuivat luomaan maailmaa.

Kuvaaminen oli taas kerran haasteellista, koska aurinko oli liian voimakas ja varjossa... no jaa, isompi kuva kertoo kaiken. Sesame jaspis on selkeästi VIHREÄ sävyltään, ei sinertävä.

Kaulakorussa on siis Sesame jaspista markiiseina, 8 mm, 6 mm ja 4 mm pyöreinä helminä. Väleissä kirkkaita hopeasisuksella varustettuja siemenhelmiä. Korvakoruissa 4 mm pyöreitä helmiä kierteisillä lenkeillä ketjuun ripustettuna. Korviksista auringossa otettu lähikuva, kun ne ovat isommassa kuvassa niin hämärät. Kannattaa klikata kuva isommaksi.

Tämä setti ei taida olla tyypillistä minua, koska en ole yleensä jaspisten ystävä enkä käytä juurikaan hillittyjä ja hempeitä koruja. Tämä nyt sattuu sopimaan tismalleen ensi viikolla oleviin syntymäpäiväjuhliin valitsemaani puseroon. Päivänsankari täyttää 80 vuotta. :)

May I offer You a glass of Sesame Wine? The strange name is based on Assyrian legend, which tells how the gods, when they met to create the world, drank wine made from sesame seeds.

Photographing was once again a challenge, because the hot summer sun was too sharp, and in the shade... well, the bigger photo tells it all. :( Sesame Jasper is clearly GREEN, not blue-ish.

In the necklace I have Sesame Jasper in marquise, 8 mm, 6 mm and 4 mm round beads. In between them there are clear silver lined seed beads. In the earrings I used 4 mm round beads, which I hung on a piece of chain with spiral links. Please click the photo to view it bigger. This set is not quite my typical style, for I'm not a big friend of Jaspers - even the sweet pastel colours and the humble design are not me. But this just happens to fit perfectly to the blouse I'm going to wear on a birthday party next week. We are going to celebrate his 80th birthday! :)

From Dawn to Dusk (for Luxonia Beading Competition)

Helmikauppa Luxonia järjesti tänäkin vuonna korunsuunnittelukilpailun. Aiheena tällä kertaa oli "Valo". Osallistuin kisaan kuvassa näkyvällä käädyllä "From Dawn to Dusk" (suomeksi suunnilleen "Aamunkoitosta illanhämyyn"). Tarkoitukseni oli tehdä koko setti eli kääty, korvakorut ja rannekoru. Elämässä kuitenkin sattuu ja tapahtuu kaikenlaista, joten tekemättä jäivät. Valmistuvat aikanaan, kunhan ehdin paneutua koruiluun puutarhan sijaan. Klikkaa kuvaa, niin näet korun isompana.

Muutama sana koruni ideasta ja materiaaleista. Kokonaisuus kuvaa valon luonnetta eri vuorokaudenaikoina. Aamulla valo on kirkasta, terävää, valkoista. Päivää kohden se saa keltaisia, joskus punertaviakin sävyjä. Ilta tuo mukanaan sinerrystä ja auringonlaskujen punaista. Yötä kohti sävyt tummuvat siniseen hetkeen ja tähtien pilkahduksiin. Takana oleva tummansininen ketju kuvaa yötä. Materiaalit: yläkivinä isot fasettihiotut vuorikristalli ja ametisti, siruina vuorikristallia, sitriiniä, ruusukvartsia, valkoista "jadea", sinipitsiakaattia, punaista akaattia, ametistia, sodaliittia, lapis latsulia, mustaharmaata särölasia sekä kirkkaan turkoosiksi värjättyä lasia. Yön puolella vilahtaa muutama vihertävä labradoriittisirukin. Ketju on kolmen lenkin "muinaisketjua" siniseksi anodisoidusta niobiumista, muut osat korumetallia. Sirut on pujoteltu ohueen vaijeriin.

Koruni sai kilpailussa 23 ääntä ja pääsi sijalle 12. Kilpailijoita oli peräti 25, joten olen erittäin onnellinen koruni sijoituksesta. Sain roppakaupalla lisää itseluottamusta ja rohkeutta koruharrastukselleni. Lämmin kiitos kaikille äänestäjille!

Bead shop Luxonia had again this year the beading contest. This time it's theme was "Light". I took part to the competition with this necklace, which I named "From Dawn to Dusk". Please, click the picture to view the bigger photo. Originally my goal was to make a whole set with earrings and bracelet. But there is often something unexpected in life, so I had no time to make them all. Surely I will make them later, but now - in the middle of summer - I have a lot to do in the house and garden.

A few words about this necklace, the idea and materials. The piece describes light in different times of day. In the morning the light is bright, sharp and white. Towards the mid-day it gets some yellow tones, sometimes even reddish. The evening brings gradually more and more blue tones with red shades of sunset. Towards the night colours turn darker and darker until the "blue moment" comes and the first stars begin to twinkle. The dark blue chain descibes the night.

Materials I used: two big faceted nuggets, one of amethyst and the other rock crystal. The coloured part has chips on wire: rock crystal, citrine, rose quartz, white "jade", blue lace agate, red agate, amethyst, sodalite, lapis latsuli, dark grey cracked glass and brigth turquoise glass. In the darkest part there are a few chips of greenish labradorite. The metal chain is 3-in-3 chain maille of anodized niobium.

This necklace got 23 votes in the competition and ended to the glorious 12th place. There was totally 25 pieces of jewellery, so I am very, very happy of my success. I got plenty of self confidence and courage to continue this dear hobby of mine. I want to thank most kindly everybody who voted for my piece!

Kesäneule - Summer pullover

Lopultakin, juuri sopivasti ilmojen lämmetessä, valmistui tämä limenvihreä kesäneule.

Lankana on Katia "Espiga", joka on hieman löyhäkierteinen puuvillasekoitelanka. 50 % puuvillaa ja 50 % akryylia (mikrokuitua). Suloisen tuntuista neuleena!

Malli on Novita-lehdestä 1/1999. Klikkaa kuva isommaksi, niin näet ruutujen sisällä olevan kuvioneuleen. Hihat jätin tarkoituksella ohjetta lyhyemmiksi, eli ne ovat suunnilleen 2/3-mittaiset.

At last I finished this lime green summer pullover, as we have now the first nicely warm days up here in the north.

The yarn here is Katia "Espiga", which is a lightly twisted cotton mix yarn. 50 % cotton, 50 % acrylic (microfiber). This feels very tender and nice when knitted!

The model I found from a finnish knitting magazine "Novita", issue 1/1999. Please click the picture to enlarge it, so You can see the changing knitting pattern inside the lacy diamonds. The sleeves are shorter than in the original pattern, because I like 3/4 sleeves better.

Pieniä muutoksia - Small changes

Päätin lopulta jättää käsityöblogin rauhaan muulta hömpältä, eli perustin "kynsilakkablogin". Siirsin sinne tältä puolelta viimeisimmän ostospostauksen, vanhemman lakkajutun poistin.

Tervetuloa katsomaan Nordic Nails -blogiani, jos kiinnostaa. Tosin siellä ei vielä ole paljoakaan nähtävää, mutta lisää on tulossa (myös ostoksia on tehty, hmmm...)

Finally I decided to leave this handicraft blog in peace from other kinds of chitchat, so I created a "nail polish blog". I moved the latest shopping post there and deleted the oldest post.
