Kaulusliivi - Slipover With A Collar

Lopultakin valmistui tämä ihanan lämmin - sekä väriltään että materiaaliltaan - mohairliivi. Ja tarpeeseen tuleekin, kun ulkona tuulee kylmästi ja työpaikalla vetää niskaan. Aloitin jo ennen joulua, ja tässä ollaan. Lanka on Red Heart Mozart mohairlankaa, jonka värit ovat niin aurinkoiset, että itsekin piristyy. Langan olen ostanut helmiystävältäni Polgaralta, joten lämmin kiitos hänelle. Malli on niskakipuiselle oikein mukava, sillä tässä liivissä on kunnon joustinneulekaulus, jonka voi tarvittaessa nostaa pystyyn. Malli löytyi Kauneimmat Käsityöt -lehdestä 6/2007.

Finally it's ready, and not a moment too soon! This brightly coloured mohair slipover is very warm and the sunny colours make everybody feel happy. The yarn is Red Heart "Mozart", which I bought from my beader friend Polgara - thanks to her again. This pattern is very nice to a person like me, who has trouble with neck and stiff shoulder muscles: it has a long, nice collar. The original model is from Marks & Kattens, made of MultiMohair.

Koirien villapaidat - Pullovers For Dogs

Viimeisin puikkojen tuotos tässä - tosin toinen asiakkaista ehti jo siirtyä kuvasta sivummalle. Neuloin molemmille koirille punaiset villikset, lankana Novita Isoveli. Ensin oli tämän vaaleamman herran kanssa hieman neuvottelua villiksen pukemisesta, mutta 16 asteen pakkanen tuntuu ilmeisesti mukavammalta paita päällä. :) Mustat remmit ovat valjaat, jotka puetaan luonnollisesti villapaidan päälle.

Here is my latest knitting project: nice red pullovers for both of our dogs. The yarn I used was Novita Isoveli (Big Brother). First there was some heated discussion with the blond client about putting the pullover on, but when there is -16 degrees Celcius outside, he found it a good idea. :) The black belts in the picture is the harness, which is put over the pullover, naturally.

Tammialessa - January Sale

Uusi vuosi, uudet kujeet - ja koruinspiraatio aivan hukassa!

Sorruinpa sitten lankakaupan tammialeen, huhhuh. Ei voi mitään, kun laatulankoja myydään eurolla kerä. Nyt ei vähään aikaan tarvitse lankakauppaan mennä, näistä riittää tekemistä.

Hieman jotain muutakin tuli ostettua tammialesta, ihan eri kaupasta, mutta siitä ehkä myöhemmin. ,-)

New year and new tricks - but I seem to have lost my jewellery making inspiration somewhere.

Well... I went totally mad in a yarn shop sale. I just couldn't help myself, when they sold high quality yarns by one euro per ball. But now the low economical period doesn't hurt me: I have quite enough to do for a long time.

I also visited another January sale, in quite a different shop, but we have to wait and see what comes out of that. ,-)

Tonttu-SHY - SBF Gnome

Tämän vuoden viides SHY (Salainen HelmiYstävä) oli teemalla Tonttu. Jokaiselle oli arvottu ystävä, jolle piti lähettää Jouluun mennessä yllätyshelmipaketti. Tällaisen ihanuuden sain omalta Tonttuystävältäni (aidon Napapiiriltä lähetetyn joulukortin lisäksi):

Oikealla ylhäällä isoja sinisiä aventuuriineja, sen alla kasvonaamiopussi, alapuolella sodaliittia pyöreinä, nugetteina ja sydäminä. Alhaalla sydänrasioihin kerättyinä sardonyxit: mustia ovaaleja, punaisia tynnyreitä ja useamman kokoisia pyöreitä punaisia. Vasemmalla ylhäällä Joulupukin äänikirje, messinkiketjun sisällä karneolia, säröakaattia ja foliolasiset sydämet ja tabletti. Sininen raidallinen ja vihreä ovaali ovat myös lasia (vihreästä en ole kyllä ihan varma). Kiitos, kulta SHY-tonttuni! Tästä riittää inspiraatioita pitkäksi aikaa!

On the Finnish beaders' forum the fifth SBF (Secret Beader Friend) had the theme of "Gnome" (as Santa's little helper). Everyone taking part in it had to send one special bead surprise package for Christmas. This is what I got from my dear Gnome friend (plus the Christmas greeting card, sent specially from Polar Circle):

On the upper right we have big blue aventurines on top of a pouch of face mask (thanks, this was needed!), below them there are sodalite rounds, few big nuggets and hearts. On lower right, in the heart-shaped boxes there are sardonyxes: black ovals, red barrels and several sizes of rounds. On the upper left there is a cassette with Santa's personal greetings, below it piece of brass chain (pretty!), carnelian rounds, fire crab agate and silver foil hearts and flat roundel. I think the white and blue striped pendant and green oval are glass, but I'm not quite sure about the green one. Thank You, my dear Gnome friend, from these I get inspiration for some time!

Ovikranssi - Christmas Wreath

Tällaisen, puolessa tunnissa hätäisesti väsätyn kranssin sain oveen tehtyä. Viime tippaan meni, jouluaattona vasta ehdin paneutua tähän. Sieltä täältä matkan varrelta kerätyt kuusenoksatkin olivat loppua kesken. Mutta meneehän tämä.

This is our Christmas Wreath this year, made very hastily during Christmas Eve. It took me about half an hour to make this, so the quality is quite poor this time. I collected the spruce brances from here and there during my walks (I don't want to destroy any single tree), and making the wreath I soon discovered that I didn't have quite enough of them. Well, this will do for this winter. ,-)

Valkoinen jakku - White Cardigan

Tämä projekti oli jonkun aikaa (nooh, vaivaiset puoli vuotta) säilössä puolivalmiina, nyt sitten käyttökunnossa. Jakulla on painoa aika reilusti ja se on muhkea ja pehmeä. Lanka on aikanaan Lidlistä ostettua löyhäkierteistä "nimetöntä" lankaa (80 % akryyli, 20 % villa), kudottu nro 8 puikoilla. Mallin löysin muistaakseni Garnstudion sivuilta. Hihat ovat 3/4-pituiset. Nappeja ei ole ollenkaan, vaan takki kiinnitetään kilttineulalla (kunhan saan koristeltua sopivan yksilön).

This cardigan project was stashed away for some time (well, eh, about six months) half finished, but finally it's ready for use. The cardigan is quite heavy and it's very soft and fluffy and warm. I bought the yarn long ago from Lidl, it has no special name, just "knitting yarn". It is very loosely twisted, made of 80% acrylic and 20% wool. I used size 8 knitting needles (metric size).
The pattern I found from - if my memory serves me right - Garnstudio's pages. Sleeves are 3/4, and I didn't put any buttons (the holes would have been quite ugly). The cardigan can be fastened with a kilt pin (after I have finished the idea I have in my head).

Retro Repair vol 3

Viimeisiä korjauksia tältä erää!
Ensin arvokkaampi koru, joka on fasetoitua onyxia tai mustaa kiveä - joka tapauksessa kiveä, ei muovia. Lukko tuotti runsaasti päänvaivaa, kun korjausvaiheessa huomasin sen olleen alunperin hopeoitu ja komeaa strassia pitelevien kynsien pehmenneen lähes makarooniksi. Yritin saada maailmalta tilattua (Suomesta ei löytynyt tuollaista), koetin löytää kavereilta, mut kun ei. Täytyy kehottaa omistajaa kohtelemaan lukkoa erittäin hellästi. :)
Osakseni jäi siis kivien ja lukon puhdistus, lukon varovainen korjaaminen ja kivien laittaminen kolmeen vaijeripätkään. Aiemmin ne olivat siimassa, joko oli jo lähes poikki kulunut.

Last posting about these repairs!
First I introduce the more valuable necklace, apparently made of faceted onyx or black stone - some stone, anyway, not plastic. I had more than enough trouble with the clasp: when examining it for cleaning I found it to have lost its silver plating totally and the prongs holding the big strass were soft like overcooked spagetti. What a disappointment! I desperately tried to find a new fancy clasp from Finland, from my beader friends and even from European shops, but no chance. Either the offered clasp was not suitable or the delivery time was too long. Finally I cleaned and repaired the clasp the best I could, and warned the owner to treat it with great care. I also cleaned the stones and strung them to beading wire. They were originally strung to thin fishing line, which was badly worn.

Tämän kanssa oli loppua kekseliäisyys. Koru on onttoa muovia ja etuosa oli pahasti rikkoutunut. Mitä ilmeisimmin osa "helmistä" oli kateissa, osa oli rikki. Korussa ei ollut lukkoa lainkaan, eli pituutta täytyi saada tarpeeksi. Lopulta ratkaisin ongelman niin, että yksinkertaisesti poistin osan jäljelle jääneistä kiekoista ja laitoin väliin isoja siemenhelmiä (AB crystal ja musta). Kaksi pienemmistä mustista kiekoista liimasin kokoon ja käytin. Kulahtaneiden "hopea"helmien tilalle vaihdoin opaali-imitaatiohelmet, jotta pituutta tuli riittävästi. En ole kovin tyytyväinen, mutta mahdoton mikä mahdoton.

This plastic necklace came to be the most frustrating job of them all. The material was hollow plastic, and the front part was totally broken. Obviously some of the "beads" were lost forever, some were broken. There was no clasp, so I had to make it long enough. Finally, after a lot of thought and several disappointing tests, I simply ditched some of the black disks. The rest I used and glued together the broken ones. I then added big seed beads in between (colours black and AB crystal). I replaced the two original, badly worn "silver plated" beads with imitation opal beads to get just a bit more length. I'm not very happy with the result, but impossible is impossible.
