Pieniä muutoksia - Small changes

Päätin lopulta jättää käsityöblogin rauhaan muulta hömpältä, eli perustin "kynsilakkablogin". Siirsin sinne tältä puolelta viimeisimmän ostospostauksen, vanhemman lakkajutun poistin.

Tervetuloa katsomaan Nordic Nails -blogiani, jos kiinnostaa. Tosin siellä ei vielä ole paljoakaan nähtävää, mutta lisää on tulossa (myös ostoksia on tehty, hmmm...)

Finally I decided to leave this handicraft blog in peace from other kinds of chitchat, so I created a "nail polish blog". I moved the latest shopping post there and deleted the oldest post.

Tammialessa - January Sale

Uusi vuosi, uudet kujeet - ja koruinspiraatio aivan hukassa!

Sorruinpa sitten lankakaupan tammialeen, huhhuh. Ei voi mitään, kun laatulankoja myydään eurolla kerä. Nyt ei vähään aikaan tarvitse lankakauppaan mennä, näistä riittää tekemistä.

Hieman jotain muutakin tuli ostettua tammialesta, ihan eri kaupasta, mutta siitä ehkä myöhemmin. ,-)

New year and new tricks - but I seem to have lost my jewellery making inspiration somewhere.

Well... I went totally mad in a yarn shop sale. I just couldn't help myself, when they sold high quality yarns by one euro per ball. But now the low economical period doesn't hurt me: I have quite enough to do for a long time.

I also visited another January sale, in quite a different shop, but we have to wait and see what comes out of that. ,-)

Ovikranssi - Christmas Wreath

Tällaisen, puolessa tunnissa hätäisesti väsätyn kranssin sain oveen tehtyä. Viime tippaan meni, jouluaattona vasta ehdin paneutua tähän. Sieltä täältä matkan varrelta kerätyt kuusenoksatkin olivat loppua kesken. Mutta meneehän tämä.

This is our Christmas Wreath this year, made very hastily during Christmas Eve. It took me about half an hour to make this, so the quality is quite poor this time. I collected the spruce brances from here and there during my walks (I don't want to destroy any single tree), and making the wreath I soon discovered that I didn't have quite enough of them. Well, this will do for this winter. ,-)

Salainen Helmiystävä - Secret Beader Friend

Päätin osallistua Helmetin kolmen kuukauden mittaiseen kevätpiristykseen nimeltä "Salainen Helmiystävä". Joku siis lähettää minulle kaikenlaisia yllätyksiä tuon kolmen kuukauden aikana - ja minä tietysti yritän parhaani mukaan ilahduttaa omaa helmiystävääni.

Piristys onkin kipeästi tarpeen, koska inspiraatio on hukassa ja vapaa-aika kadoksissa (tarkemmin sanottuna aika menee lehtien lukuun ja telkkarin töllötykseen). Jotenkin nyt vaan ei suju...

I decided to take part in the Finnish beaders' forum spring theme called "Secret Beader Friend", which lasts for three months. Somebody is sending me all kinds of surprises during those months - and of course I try to please my own friend without revealing myself.

Some cheering up is indeed necessary, because my inspiration has hidden itself somewhere (in the snow perhaps?) and all my free time seems to be lost by reading magazines and watching telly. Something is now seriously wrong...

Helmeilypöytä - Beading table Vol 2

Parempi puoliskoni sai kannen valmiiksi tänään! Turvalukitus pitää kannen tukevasti ylhäällä, kun pöydällä työskennellään. Kannen etureuna estää helmien karkailemisen pitkin lattioita, vaikka pöytää siirrettäisiin. Kansi oli ensin tarkoitus tehdä vanerista, mutta se todettiin nopeasti liian taipuisaksi materiaaliksi. Nyt kansi on tukevaa levyä ja sen päällä voi rauhassa porata reikiä, tehdä kiillotustöitä tai vaikka juottaa. Kun pöytä on suljettuna, se on siisti ja kompakti. No, maali puuttuu edelleenkin... ,-)

Today my husband finished the lid, too. The safety holder keeps the lid securely open, when I'm working. The front edge coming down from the lid prevents any beads getting out when the lid is closed, even if somebody moves the table. The first idea was to make the lid of thin plywood, but we soon realised that it was bending far too easily. Now the lid is made of sturdy wood, so I can do some other kinds of work on it, like drilling, polishing or even soldering. In small scale, of course. ,-) When the table is closed, it looks very neat and compact. Well, the paint is still missing... ,-)

Helmeilypöytä - Beading table

Ihanaa! Nyt minulla on oma helmeilypöytä, ei tarvitse vallata olohuoneen pöytää. Hienoa, kun on käsistään kätevä mies! Olkkarin nurkasta löytyi vielä sen verran tilaa, että siihen sai mittojen mukaan rakennettua tällaisen. Kansi puuttuu vielä, kun saranat ovat hukassa. ,-) Pakkelit ja maalit pöytä saa joskus kesällä, kun säät lämpenevät ja minulla on aikaa moiseen puuhaan.

Wonderful! Now I have my own beading table, so I don't have to scatter everything around the living room table any more. It's so nice to have a handy husband! There was just enough room for a small table in the livingroom corner, so he made this for me. The lid is still missing, 'cause the hinges are misplaced somewhere. ,-) The table is quite "raw" now, because I can't paint it yet (it's too cold and wet outside), but I'll do it during the summer.

Muutoksia - Minor changes

Blogi vaihtoi taas ulkonäköä. Nyt pääsin jo niin pitkälle, että sain oman kuvan tuonne otsikon taakse. Kyllä se tästä.
Yksi korukin valmistui tänään, mutta väri on sen verran hento, että taidan odotella luonnonvaloa kuvaamista varten.

Now the blog looks different again. I got so far in learning, that I got my own picture behind the header. Patience makes perfect, I hope.
I finished one necklace and pair of earrings today, but the colour of the stone is so delicate that I'd better wait for some natural light for photographing.
