Kevät tulee - Spring Is Coming

Tämä riemunkirjava setti on tulosta Facebookin Helmihöperöt-ryhmässä heitetystä haasteesta tehdä kevätkoru huhtikuun loppuun mennessä. No kas, kerran minäkin ehdin haasteeseen mukaan! Kiitos, Anzu!

Keväässäni on Anzulta ostamiani omenanvihreitä nugetteja, lumikvartsia (8 mm ja 4 mm), muutama AB-käsitelty vihreä lasihelmi (rannekorussa ja korviksissa) sekä paljon värikkäitä ja kirkkaita särölasihelmiä (8 mm ja 6 mm). Valkoiset ja kirkkaat edustavat lunta ja jäätä, jota vielä on näkyvissä, vihreät paisuneita nuppuja ja ensimmäisiä versoja, värikkäät lasihelmet krookuksia, scilloja, minitulppaaneita ja ties mitä kevätkukkia.

Kuvausalustana ja korusetin tulevana kaverina on muuten pakkoneuloosin tuotetta, puolivalmiina tosin vielä. :)

I created this colourful set, because one of my beader friends announced a challenge in Finnish Facebook beaders' group. The challenge was to make some jewellery when waiting the spring finally arrive after our long and dark winter. The deadline was the end of April, so even I had enough time and energy to participate. Thanks to my beader friend Anzu!

In my spring I have apple green faceted nuggets (which I bought from Anzu), snow quartz (8 mm and 4 mm rounds), a few AB-green glass beads in the bracelet and the earrings and a whole lot of coloured and bright 8 mm and 6 mm crackled glass beads. Snow quartz and bright glass beads represent the remaining snow piles and ice, the big green nuggets are buds ready to burst open and the colourful beads are crocuses, scilla sibiricas, miniature tulips and all other kinds of spring flowers.

I took the pictures on the latest knit-o-holic project of mine, which is going to accompany the jewellery set when ready. :)

Fire And Ice

Helmetissä oli helmikuun teemana "vastakohdat". Olin juuri vähän aiemmin ostanut Anzulta erikoisia, rouheita akaattipaloja, joiden kanssa yhdistin kahta eri kokoa särölasihelmiä.

Korvakoruihin käytin akaatti- ja vuorikristallisiruja. Kuvan laitoin erikseen tuohon keskelle, että näkyy hieman paremmin. Kaulakoru on iso ja näyttävä.

Vastakohtina kivi - lasi, kulmikas - pyöreä, värillinen - kirkas. Tuli ja jää.

In the Finnish beader's forum the jewellery theme for February was "opposites". I had just bought the rough, very special red agate cubes. I added two sizes of crackle glass beads.

For the earrings I used agate and crystal chips. The picture of earrings is in the middle, just to show them a bit better. The necklace is quite big.

The opposites are stone - glass, angular - round, coloured - clear. Fire And Ice.

Revontulipusero - Aurora Borealis Pullover

Mitäköhän olen tehnyt, kun ei ole koruja näkynyt? Aivan oikein: pakkoneuloosi iski jälleen! Nyt on jo korujakin tekeillä, mutta niistä sitten joskus...

Olen tehnyt varmaan tusinan sukkaparia ja sitten tämän, juuri sopivasti tulipalopakkasille. Neule on ollut jo käytössä, pestykin ihan pesukoneessa. Nyt vasta sain toimeksi kuvata teelmykseni.

Alkuperäinen malli oli valkoinen tummilla kuvioilla, minä vaihdoin värit tällaisiin "revontuliin". Malli on Garnstudion valikoimista, norjalaisneule. Tein tästä myös pidemmän, ulottuu kivasti lantiolle asti.

Lankana islantilainen 100 % villalanka Létt-Lopi, joka on melko karheaa. Pusero vaatiikin alle t-paidan tai paitapuseron, ettei kutita.

So, what have I been doing during this long break between postings? Yeah, you're right: it's the knit-o-holic time again! Some jewellery is on the way, but later, later...

I have knitted about a dozen pairs of socks during these long and dark winter nights - and then this, just in time for the awfully cold weather we now have. This polo neck pullover has been in use already, and I have even washed it (just in washing machine with wool program). Only now I got to taking picture, when we had nice natural light.

The original pattern is from Garnstudio's norwegian designs and it was white with dark upper part. I changed the colours to these "aurora borealis" -colours. I also made this longer, so that it goes nicely down to my hips.

I used pure icelandig wool yarn, Létt-Lopi (Light Lopi), which is quite rough. I need to use a t-shirt or a blouse underneath, otherwise it tickles.

Intohimo - Passion

Näistä ihanan hehkuvanpunaisista lasimöllyköistä (32 mm pitkiä) syntyi kuin itsestään intohimoinen koru. Lisänä samasta Ellastiinan paketista pyöreät punaiset lasihelmet sekä aiemmin jostain ostamani iso lamppulasisydän. Korviksissa lisäksi muutama 6 mm:n särölasihelmi hieman vaaleammassa sävyssä. Metalliosat ovat korumetallia.

Tämän korun ideana on edessä oleva jykevä lukko - ensimmäinen tällainen rakenne koruiluhistoriassani. Klikkaa kuva isommaksi!

Kaulakoru on muhkea ja melko painavakin, kerää kyllä katseet. Sydän asettuu juuri strategiselle korkeudelle. :)

These big, fire-red glass nuggets (height 32 mm) created almost by themselves a very passionate necklace. I added some round red glass beads from the same lot, which I bought from my fellow beader, and a big red lampwork glass heart which has been sitting in my drawer for some time. To the earrings I added a few 6 mm crackle glass beads in a bit lighter shade. The parts are silver plated.

The main idea of this piece is the big, fancy clasp in front of the necklace - the very first structure like that I have made. Click the picture to enlarge it!

The necklace is quite impressive and somewhat heavy. It really turns the heads! By the way, the heart sits nicely in the strategic height... ,-)

Lilac

Tämä on varsinainen pikakoru, joten nimeksikin käy vaatimattomasti "Lilac". Kokeilin ihanaa uutta kynsilakkaani, joka on tumman violetti. Kauhukseni huomasin, ettei minulla olekaan siihen sopivaa korua, saati sitten vaatetta (paitsi mustaa ja valkoista).

Vaan eipä hätää! Muistin kauan sitten Turku-miitistä ostamani pyöreät "jadet", joita oli vielä jäljellä. Väri sopi täydellisesti! Lisäsin helmiäislasihelmiä vaaleammassa sävyssä, jokusen fasettihiotun AB-käsitellyn pikkuisen lasihelmen ja muuta härpäkettä. Koru valmis!

This set really is a blitz-job, so let the name be simply "Lilac". History of the set is very simple: I had polished my nails with a interesting new colour, deep lilac (or purple). When I finished, I realized that I had no jewellery neither clothing matching the colour (exept black or white, of course)!

But no worries, little jewellery-maker! I remembered those big, round "jade" beads, which I bought a long time ago from a fellow beader in local meeting. There were some left, and the colour was perfectly the same with my polish! I then added some lighter shaded glass pearls, a few small, faceted and AB-coated glass beads and some other stuff. Ready!

Karneolijuhla - Carnelian Jubilee

Tämä ihastuttava karneolikoru valmistui 50-vuotispäiväni juhlakoruksi. Toki sillä on runsaasti käyttöä muulloinkin. Upeiden fasettihiottujen karnolien nauha sai seurakseen himmeän valkeita lasihelmiä. Keskikohdan suurimpien karneolien vierelle asettelin kaiverrettuja rondelleja, siitä eteenpäin sileitä hieman pienempiä, loppuun siemenhelmiä. Keskikohdan suurimmalla karneolirondellilla on läpimittaa lähes 2 cm!

Lukon sydänteemaa jatkoin kaulakorun päihin pujotetuilla pikkuisilla mattapintaisilla lasihelmillä.

Samoja lasisydämiä on myös korvakoruissa, joihin uhrasin yhdet pienimmistä karneoleista. Kimallusta antavat 4 mm:n swaron biconet kahdessa punaisen sävyssä.

I finished this charming carnelian set just in time for my 50th birthday celebrations. Of course it can be used in any other occasions as well, it is quite timeless. I accompanied the exquisite faceted carnelian graduated rondelles with matte white glass beads. Between the biggest carnelians in the middle I put bigger carved white rondelles, further there are smaller round ones and in the ends I used just seed beads. The biggest carnelian rondelle is almost 2 cm in diameter!

The clasp's heart theme was followed by using small matte white hearts in the ends of the necklace as well as in the earrings. Same hearts are also in the earrings, with one of the smallest faceted carnelians. I also used couple of 4 mm Swarovski bicones in different red shades to give the earrings a touch of bling.

Kesäneule - Summer Top

Tämä pikkupusero valmistui jo ajat sitten, mutta on jäänyt kuvaamatta. Se on pestykin pari kertaa, siitä ryppyinen ulkomuoto.

Lanka on Dalegarn Svale väri 3608 (Salmon Soufflé): 50 % puuvillaa, 40 % viskoosia ja 10 % silkkiä. Lanka on ihanan pehmeä ja vilpoinen kesäneuleisiin, mutta löyhäkierteisenä aiheuttaa neulojalle välillä harmaita hiuksia.

Puseron malli on yhdistelty eri lähteistä, eli on tavallaan omaa suunnittelua.

This little summer top was finished months ago, but I didn't get to take a picture of it. It has been used during the summer and I even have washed it for a couple of times - thus the wrinkly look.

The yarn I used is Dalegarn Svale colour 3608 (Salmon Soufflé), which contains 50 % cotton, 40 % viscose and 10 % silk. It is caressing soft and nicely cool for summer clothes, but I almost got (more) grey hairs when knitting the loosely twisted yarn. But it was worth the trouble!

The model for this top is a combination of a few other patterns, so I could say that this is my own "design".
